Formula 1’s intriguing 2024 season resumes this weekend with a second trip of the year over the Atlantic for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The last three events have seen a trio of different race winners to slow Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s charge to another double title.

Verstappen won four of the first five Grand Prix to threaten another unchallenged romp to the drivers’ championship.

However, the Dutchman’s advantage has been cut to 31 points after Red Bull’s recent struggles have seen him only win once in the past three tracks.

The 26-year-old now travels to Montreal after a difficult weekend in Monaco where he lost out to Ferrari, McLaren, and even Mercedes.

And as we head into race day, Verstappen in second behind George Russell.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are third and fourth, respectively.

But the two Ferraris are outside of the top ten.

The race weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is scheduled for Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9.

Canadian Grand Prix: What has been said?

After just his second career pole, Russell has his eyes on the prize in Canada and wants the win.

He said: “So much hard work at the factory has gone into this and we said it in Monaco, we hope this is the start of something for our season, and I think it is.

“I’ve missed this feeling.

“Been a little while to get back in the fight. It sort of felt like that hard work was not paying off but these last few weekends have really shown it.

“We have been so fast all weekend. It bodes well for tomorrow. We are going to go for victory, the car is genuinely fast at the moment, but it is going to be a long race.”
