Formula 1’s Jewel in the Crown returns this weekend with the famous Monaco Grand Prix.
The iconic Monte Carlo track remains the most prestigious race on the F1 calendar due to its history as well as the glitz and glamour.
F1 2024 schedule in FULL with UK start times for every practice, qualifying, and race
Aside from winning the world championship, for many drivers the top step of the podium in Monaco is their number one ambition.
First run in 1929, the original GP has barely changed in almost a century and many of the current drivers own property in the Principality.
However, the lack of alterations to the city streets has also led to criticism from fans as modern F1 cars are too big to pass round the tight and twisty street circuit.
That means that qualifying in Monaco is the most important of the entire season and the event itself averages just 10 overtakes per race in the past decade.
Max Verstappen will be looking to replace his stunning Qualifying lap 12 months ago that secured him pole and set him up for victory.
The reigning world champion and current championship leader is expecting a tough fight from Lando Norris at McLaren and Ferrari‘s home driver Charles Leclerc.

The race weekend at the Circuit de Monaco is scheduled for Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26.
Two practice sessions will kick off Friday’s action starting from 12:30pm UK time, with the second later at 4pm.
A third practice is set for 11:30am on the Saturday, before qualifying, the most important of the entire season, takes place at 3pm.
Lights out for Sunday’s Grand Prix will be at 2pm.

Monaco GP: What has been said?
Red Bull chief Christian Horner has admitted his team are bracing for a title challenge from Norris and McLaren.
The Brit driver has finished in the top two with Verstappen for each of the last three races, winning in Miami – either side of the world champion’s victories in China and Imola.
Horner said of McLaren’s rise: “Arguably over the last couple of races they have been the main competitor.
“They have definitely added performance to their car, they have made a step, so we expect them to be competitive at all circuits.”
